The Space Technology and Education Pvt. Ltd (SPACE India) and Space Exploration andResearch Agency (SERA), a pioneering human spaceflight organization, have signed aMemorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on expanding awareness andparticipation in SERA’s upcoming human spaceflight program.
Through this partnership, SPACE India has been designated as SERA’s official OutreachPartner in India, with a focus on engaging students and young professionals. LeveragingSPACE India’s extensive network of over 1,000 schools and 1.5 million students, thecollaboration aims to foster greater interest in space sciences, cutting-edge research, andreal-world applications of space technologies.
Under the MoU, SERA and SPACE India will collaborate on several key initiatives aimed atengaging young audiences across India by promoting SERA’s space missions, scienceexperiments, and other activities. They will organize events, workshops, and onlinecampaigns to generate excitement and participation in space exploration. The partnership
will also focus on creating knowledge-sharing opportunities between students, educators,and space industry experts through industry and academic collaborations.

Scheduled to run monthly from May onwards, this initiative seeks to ignite curiosity and deepen understanding of space science and astronomy at the grassroots level, offering students and educators an exceptional platform to explore the universe. Pilot Workshop: Get set Hydraulics – 13th May 2024
On May 13, 2024, SPACE India and the American Center, New Delhi, launched a free workshop series to foster grassroots education in astronomy and space science, marking a new milestone in Indo-US relations. Led by Dr. Sachin Bahmba, the inaugural workshop engaged students aged 13 to 18 in hands-on activities exploring hydraulics and its space applications, inspiring a deeper appreciation for space exploration. For over two decades, SPACE India has collaborated with 1,000+ schools, inspiring 1.5 million students through innovative STEM education initiatives.
Starlight Detectives – 3rd June 2024
On 3rd June 2024, SPACE India hosted “Starlight Detectives: Exploring the Universe with Spectroscopy” in its Dwarka office. Starlight Detectives was the second workshop, in a series of workshops, conducted in collaboration with the American Center, New Delhi. The engaging, hands-on, session took the participants through an intriguing journey of light and colour, revealing how astronomers use spectroscopy to unveil secrets about stars.
Terrain Explorers – 22nd July 2024
The workshop was held at the American Center, which was vibrantly decorated for America’sNational Day, adding a festive atmosphere to the occasion. The centre’s space-themed decorations,including standees and exhibits highlighting the collaborative efforts between NASA and ISRO forinstance the NISAR mission, captivated the attendees including students, parents and teachers.Enthusiastic students from diverse schools such as Mount St. Mary’s, Gaurs International, GDGoenka, Delhi Public School and numerous other schools participated in the event. For these youngminds, the workshop offered a rare and valuable opportunity to explore space science andtechnology. The day was not just a celebration of space exploration but also a unique exposure forparticipants who were all visibly overwhelmed by the experience.
Mission Chandrayaan 3 – 27th August 2024
Commemorating National Space Day of India! Build, program, and operate a mini model of India’s Pragyan rover, which successfully landed on the moon. This 2-hour workshop is perfect for beginners, with no prior programming skills required. Participants will assemble their rover using a DIY kit, program it using simplified coding, and navigate through an obstacle course simulating the lunar surface. Learn basic robotics principles, programming fundamentals, and problem-solving skills while working in teams.
Cosmic Clicks – 30th September 2024
On September 30, 2024, SPACE India, in collaboration with the American Center, hosted their fifth educational workshop, “Cosmic Clicks – An Introduction to DSLR Astrophotography.” This hands-on workshop brought together 36 curious students from schools across Delhi, giving them a chance to dive into the world of astrophotography and space science. The event aimed to foster curiosity and spark excitement about capturing the cosmos using advanced photography techniques.
Safe Solar Observation – 15th October 2024
An astronomy workshop was held at the Space Office in Sector 11 Dwarka, organized by Space India incollaboration with the American Centre, on September 30th, 2024. The workshop aimed to educatestudents about safe solar observation techniques, a crucial skill for budding astronomers and science
enthusiasts. The workshop began with a presentation by a knowledgeable space astronomer, who providedinsights into the features of the Sun and the importance of safe solar viewing methods.
Water Rocketry – 19th November 2024
Space India, in collaboration with the American Centre, hosted a thrilling and educational eventtitled Adventures of Water Rocketry at their office in Dwarka Sector 11 on 19th November. Despitethe foggy weather and school closures across Delhi, students and their parents & teachers showedimmense enthusiasm and made their way to the event, eager to participate in the hands-on learningexperience. The office space was beautifully decorated to capture the excitement of spaceexploration, creating an immersive environment for everyone involved.
Measuring the Earth with Qutub Minar – 10th December 2024
On 10th December 2024, Space India, in collaboration with the American Center and with thesupport of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), hosted a unique and educational workshop titledMeasuring Earth with Qutub Minar. This event gave students the chance to recreate the ancientexperiment of Eratosthenes, who first measured Earth’s circumference over 2,000 years ago. Theworkshop was held at the historic Qutub Minar Complex, where 35 students from prestigiousschools such as Darbarilal DAV Model School, Tagore International School, Manav Sthali School, K.R.Mangalam World School, etc. participated. The focus of the event was to demonstrate how simpletools and careful observation can lead to groundbreaking scientific discoveries. Using the QutubMinar as a reference point and a Gnomon (a small vertical stick), students were guided through theprocess of calculating the Earth’s circumference.

The Space India office in Sector 11, Dwarka, was turned into a portal to the cosmos on Monday, January20, 2025, as young minds from various schools came together for an exciting 9th workshop under theprestigious US Embassy workshop series. Titled “Mission ISS – A Virtual Reality AstronautExperience,”. Organized through a collaboration between Space India and the American Center, thisevent aimed to educate and inspire students about the International Space Station (ISS) and the life ofastronauts in space, providing them with hands-on experiences that brought space science to life.Students from Mahavir Senior Model School, Maxfort School, Prudence School, Amity InternationalSchool, K.R. Mangalam World School, Sachdeva Global School, and many more arrived with excitementand eagerness. The space team welcomed teachers, parents, and participants with a warm welcome thatset the tone for an enriching day of discovery and learning.

On February 18, 2025, the iconic Jantar Mantar observatory in Delhi became the stage for anextraordinary educational event, bringing together history, science, and inspiration. Organized by SPACEIndia in collaboration with the American Center under the US Embassy workshop series, the workshop
welcomed 31 bright young learners from schools across Delhi NCR, including Mayoor School (Noida),Mount Abu Public School (Rohini), Uttam School for Girls, and Imperial Heritage School (Gurugram).
