SPACE Astronomy Club aims to teach students life skills through the intelligent application of astronomy and space science concepts through hands-on sessions and one experiential Educational Trip to Astroport (2D/1N) for Space Astronomy Club students. It is designed to inculcate the spirit of inquiry and logical thinking, to ask questions and seek solutions through the problem-solving approach, and to do and learn science derived from nature. Hands-on activities inculcate a scientific temper and love for science, and the participating student is trained to become an amateur astronomer and a budding space scientist. It creates a new horizon and vision for the child, through which the child develops as a valuable human being for society and the nation and a science explorer for life. Apart from hands-on sessions, the program also includes outdoor night camps at a dark location (Astroport) to experience Astronomy first-hand while gazing at starry clear skies, along with day and evening observations executed within the school campus. As a Space Club member, the students get a telescope or a barn door tracker and astronomy tools for hands-on practice.
SPACE club students are Asteroid Discovers, Comet Hunters, Young Scientist Awardees, budding astronauts, NASA Space Settlement Contest winners, Eclipse chasers, and researchers, as they are given a chance to participate in various SPACE-organized national and international events and projects.
