The exploration of celestial balance and seasonal transition unfolded beautifully in the webinar “Cosmic Balance: Science of the March Equinox, organized by SPACE India live on YouTube on 20 March 2026. Bringing together learners, enthusiasts, and curious minds from across the country, the session transformed a cosmic event into a shared experience of discovery. The session featured speaker, Prof. Shantanu Rastogi, Department of Physics, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University, guided the audience through the science behind the equinox with clarity and ease, while the session was seamlessly hosted by Ms Rishita Sharma, Educator Space India, whose engaging presence kept the conversation lively and accessible.

Centred around the March Equinox, which occurred at 14:45 on the same day, the webinar highlighted the science behind this moment of near-perfect balance, when day and night are almost equal across the globe. The discussion explained how Earth’s 23.5° axial tilt and its orbit around the Sun give rise to such phenomena, shaping seasons, daylight patterns, and our experience of time itself. What appears to be a simple shift in seasons unfolded into a deeper narrative of cosmic precision and harmony.

What made the webinar truly remarkable was the exchange of curiosity. Questions flowed in from students—simple, complex, imaginative, and thought-provoking. From wondering why shadows disappear in certain regions to exploring how eclipses occur, every query found a patient and insightful response. Prof. Rastogi answered each one with a sense of enthusiasm that made science feel less like a subject and more like a story waiting to be understood. His explanations bridged the gap between textbooks and the sky above, making even the most intricate ideas feel within reach. With around a thousand viewers joining the session, the webinar became more than just a lecture—it became a collective moment of learning and wonder.

The session concluded by reflecting on SPACE India’s vision of nurturing scientific curiosity and wonder among young minds. By making astronomy accessible and relatable, it continues to inspire students to look up, ask questions, and find meaning in the universe around them—turning learning into a journey of discovery. And in doing so, it reminds us to take a moment to toast the Sun, the Earth’s gentle tilt, and our place in space that together bring us the vernal equinox.
