Humanity’s thirst for exploration knows no bounds, and when it comes to the vast expanse of space, that curiosity becomes a beacon guiding us through the mysteries of the cosmos. On 06th October 2023, a captivating event took place that united space enthusiasts under one roof. EduOdyssey: Chandrayaan – 3 and Beyond, a collaborative effort by SPACE India and Kundan Vidya Mandir School, Ludhiana, unfolded as an inspiring and enlightening journey through the cosmos.
The event was graced by the presence of Chief Guest, Dr. Mamta Chauhan, Scientist, Geo Sciences Divison, Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). The event began with a memorable gesture as the Principal of KundanVidyaMandir School presented a book to our esteemed chief guest, Dr. Mamta Chauhan.
The event kicked off with a captivating ‘Shiv Shakti Vandana’, a mesmerizing performance by Kundan Vidya Mandir School students that set the auspicious tone for the day. The event was ceremonially illuminated as guests came together to light the traditional lamp, symbolizing the illumination of knowledge and the beginning of an event.
The stage was then taken by Ms. Avani Patwa, CEO of Space India, who initiated her talk with acaptivating presentation, the spotlight was on Space India, an organization that has left an indelible mark on the educational landscape of the country. She painted a vivid picture of how Space India’s educational content and activities have ignited the imaginations of millions of students nationwide, making us all dream a little bigger. Perhaps one of the most captivating parts of the presentation was the celebration of Space India’s remarkable achievements. The organization has not only inspired but also achieved greatness in its own right. Ms. Avani Patwa outlined a series of milestones, awards, and breakthroughs that Space India has accomplished over the year.
Mr. AP Sharma, Principal brought great enthusiasm to the event by his introductory speech to address the audience of 70 participating Schools and 1000 students of different schools. His words echoed with gratitude forSPACE India for spearheading such an inspiring event. He underlined the importance of igniting young minds with curiosity and awe for the universe, cultivating the seeds for future space exploration and innovation.
Following the great buzz and introduction, it was the esteemed chief guest’s speech on stage that mesmerized everyone with extensive knowledge about the ISRO missions. Dr. Mamta Chauhan shared the incredible odyssey of Chandrayaan-3, an embodiment of India’s relentless pursuit of knowledge. Her speech resonated with the majesty of the universe, the intricate details of our solar system, and the profound significance of our Moon. She elaborated on the Chandrayaan-3 mission, offering insights into its objectives and the advancements it promised. She also spoke about the forthcoming missions – Aditya L1 and Gaganyaan – that promise to take India’s space exploration to new heights. Dr. Chauhan also emphasized the numerous career opportunities that await young minds to become Astrophysicists, Rocket scientists, entrepreneurs, etc.
After the enlightening presentation by the chief guest, the event took a delightful turn when the host initiated a spontaneous and lively Q&A round with students. Their eager responses and infectious enthusiasm transformed what was already an engaging presentation into a fun and interactive experience.
The event was further boosted by a fireside chat with Dr. Mamta Chauhan, Ms. Avani Patwa, and Col.(Dr) Rajesh Jaisial, Director. This candid conversation delved into the nuances of space exploration, the challenges, the triumphs, and the dreams that drive the quest for knowledge beyond our planet. The floor was then opened to a Q&A session where enthusiastic students posed insightful questions about Chandrayaan-3, moon colonization, and the future of space technology. Dr. Mamta Chauhan also shared information about Yuvika, ISRO’s sponsored Young Scientist program, igniting young minds with the possibilities that lie ahead.
Ms. Avani Patwa, (CEO), SPACE Group, felicitated Dr. Mamta Chauhan with an extraordinary gift: a picture of the Chandrayaan -3 launch, captured by one of the educators. This picture has achieved the remarkable feat of being featured in the prestigious Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) – NASA.
Ms. Avani Patwa, (CEO), SPACE Group, bestowed Mr. AP Sharma, Principal of Kundan Vidya Mandir School, Ludhiana with a remarkable SPACE ARCADE 50 MM Refractor Telescope. Additionally, Ms. Avani Patwa, CEO of Space Group, also honored Ms. Jagdeep Kaur, the dedicated school coordinator, for her invaluable contributions.
To conclude the event, Dr. Chauhan was treated with a great Astronomy Showcase by Kundan Vidya Mandir school students and it was inaugurated with a hydro rocketry launch by Dr. Chauhan, ushering in a realm of interactive activities. Attendees immersed themselves in terrestrial observation using Dobsonian telescopes, engaged in astronomy-themed games, explored pop rocketry and stomp rocketry, watched comet making, and were treated to a display of fascinating astronomy kits. The Chief Guest also inaugurated a Mobile Lab inside a bus for students in the school.
EduOdyssey: Chandrayaan-3 and Beyond was a celebration of human ingenuity, curiosity, and the unyielding spirit of exploration. As the event came to a close, attendees left with hearts full of wonder and minds ignited with the spark of curiosity, ready to embrace the boundless universe that awaits us all.
